The institute organized Hortiindia during 2012 ‘The Year of Horticulture’ which was inaugurated by His Excellency Dr Iqbal Singh, Lt. Governor of Pondicherry. Ministry of Agriculture and Food Processing, Govt. of India; Ministry of Chemical and Fertilizers, Govt. of India; Ministry of Statistical & Programme Implementation, Govt. of India; and Akhil Bhartiya Grameen Vikas Sansthan, Greater Noida were the main supporters of the event.

It was a two-day workshop-cum-exhibition based on the theme “Innovative Production Systems in Horticulture”. The Workshop cum Exhibition entitled “Hortiindia” was organized to demonstrate the innovative technologies to the farmers to empower them with the latest techniques. “Hands on training” was provided by the faculty and the foreign visiting faculty of the institute from Israel, Netherlands, Thailand and China.

Union Ministers, Senior Bureaucrats, Officials, Entrepreneurs, people from corporate sectors and thousands of farmers across different states of India attended the event with keen interest and enthusiasm. The Event got wide coverage by national newspapers, TV channels, especially a Krishi Darshan telecast for 20 minutes.

The institute has conducted a number of training programmes for Horticulture officers/officials, farmers and entrepreneurs from a number of States namely Odisha, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Mizoram, Sikkim, Assom, Adman and Nicobar etc.

After a grand success of Hortiindia 2012, Institute of Horticulture Technology conducted the next sequel of Workshop-cum-Exhibition “Hortiindia 2013” held on 16th-17th February 2013 at Technology Park, Greater Noida.
