OUR CAMPUS
IHT Guwahati, Assam- Campus
The institute has established another campus in Mandira, Guwahati, Assam in 2014 for technology demonstration projects and to facilitate training of farmers and entrepreneurs of North-eastern states. The campus has 150-acre cultivable land, for capacity building programmes and partnership projects the campus focusses on the priority areas of the regions like Commercial Cut Flower Production- Orchids, Production of disease free citrus plants, Production of plug vegetable seedlings, Turmeric production and post-harvest management, Cultivation of aromatic plants like Patchouli, Citronella and Sugandmantri, Protected Cultivation and promotion of innovative technologies for crops of local importance like quality planting material for Khasi Mandrin, Assam Lemon, Malta, Sweet Orange and Malbhog Plantlets.
The medium of instruction is English mixed with vernacular version of Hindi & pure local language Instructions are delivered through interactive lectures, limiting the theory to what is strictly necessary and by involving the trainees in Hands on Trainings. Institute conducts field visits and other technical exposure visits for the trainees for better understanding and live demonstration of the technologies.
INFRASTRUCTURE
Citrus Nursery Centre
Citrus nursery centre was established by Institute of Horticulture Technology in Mandira, Assam in 2016 for addressing the major concern of production of indexed quality planting material for Khasi Mandrin, Sweet Orange, Assam Lemon and other Citrus cultivars.
At citrus nursery centre, we work to supply indexed virus and disease free quality plants to our customers through the best innovative combinations of nursery practices and modern advances in agriculture.
IHT has main campus in Greater Noida and regional Centre in Mandira, Assam
Aromatic plantation Block
Aromatic plantation at commercial level with covering land area 3.5 acres in open field. Aromatic crops includes Patchouli, Citronella and Sugandh Mantri. Cultivation done in open field following the new interventional technology by IHT and raising of quality planting materials under protected structure with an area of 2000 sq. m.
Aromatic Distillation Unit
Steam distillation unit in campus at small scale run by renewable energy of solar energy from the same field and utilization of rain water from rain harvesting technique.
This unit is not only for business purpose but also to persuade adjoining farmers on energy and resources saving with minimal cost.
Dendrobium Cultivation
Dendrobium cultivation under 4000 sq. meter shade net house at commercial level along with raising of mother block. Sale of orchid cut flower spikes like hot cakes by the beneficiary farmers bolstered the farmers and youth with their newly acquired capacities to go in for scaling up their units and establish orchid cut flower production units.
Banana Planation Block
Institute of Horticulture Technology, Mandira, Assam has developed a banana field in an area of 2 acres of land using macro-propagation planting materials
