IHT provide training for protected cultivation of vegetable crops and cut flowers:

Polyhouses are commercially used for production of vegetables like Tomato, Capsicum, Cucumber and exotic (non-native) and off-season vegetables, export-quality cut flowers. Being grown in protected conditions the use of pesticide can be avoided if proper operating principles are followed or even if used, it can be kept at minimum with good agricultural practices for production of safe and healthy food.

During the training in IHT you will practically see greenhouses and climate control systems with forced ventilated greenhouse, greenhouses with intelligent climate control system, naturally ventilated polyhouse, insect-proof net house, shade net house, plastic tunnel.

Interactive lectures and hands on trainings will be provided in technological intervention like raised beds, micro irrigation, soil moisture conservation with mulching, trellising, calibrated fertigation and integrated pest management.

The main objective of the programmes are to develop entrepreneurship in protected cultivation of vegetables and cut-flowers by imparting hands-on training and classroom lectures, so that the beneficiaries will take up their own entrepreneurship activity for improving their profitability and productivity. These courses are designed for students, scholars, industry personnel’s, extension professionals, person from development agencies, progressive farmers, young and budding entrepreneurs, enthusiasts and other interested people who are interested in protected cultivation of different horticultural crops like tomato, capsicum, cucumber and cut flowers. The trainings in protected cultivation of horticultural crops in form of short term trainings 7- 30 days.
