IHT-Potato Plantlets & Minitubers, IHT-PP&Mt has specialized in production of invitro disease free potato plantlets and minitubers of the most potato varieties bred by the Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI), Shimla, India as well as from other international organizations.
IHT- PP&Mt is dedicated to provide disease-free and high genetic integrity superior invitro platelets as well as minitubers of various potato varieties that would serve as pre basic potato seed tubers in the seed production chains as per requirements of stakeholders and farmers worldwide.
Production of disease and virus free invitro plantlets for raising seed potato minitubers involves astute application of micropropagation and plant molecular sciences technologies that culminates into multifold advantages for generation of quality planting material for seed potato production chains such as
- Rapid production of disease-free invitro potato plantlets
- Ability to propagate pathogen free plantlets of desired potato variety all the year- round regardless of seasonal limitations.
- The production of genetically identical potato plantlets with desirable traits.
- Higher Yields, Better Profits!
Plan Your Pre-Basic Potato Seed Production Programme
- Normally, tissue culture (in-vitro) raised potato plantlet produces 10-12 minitubers
- Minitubers (G0 tubers) generally measure 14-18 mm in size (approx. 1.2 – 1.7 g).
- Cost of in-vitro potato plantlet is @ Rs. 5.95 in one bottle eight platelets are provided in glass bottle.
- Cost of G0 Certified seed potato is @ Rs 20 per minituber
- Some of high yielding potato varieties produced at IHT- IHT- SPIP include Kufri Chipsona 1, K. Chipsona 3, K. Badshah, Jyoti, Pukhraj, K Chandramukhi, K Surya and others.
Quality Control and Testing:
Under supervision of Plant Biotechnologists, Plant Breeders, Horticulturists and Plant Pathologists potato plantlets and mini seed tubers undergo rigorous quality control checks to ensure these being free from pathogens, genetically stable and possessing distinctive traits of varieties.
This involves molecular testing, morphological analysis, and pathogen indexing of all the plant material that comes out for supply to various stake holders.
Export:
Phytosanitary certificate for export of invitro potato plantlets and minitubes is provided by IHT-PP&Mt
