Production and Sale of Pathogen- Free Quality Plants (PFQP) of Citrus Generated through Shoot Tip Grafting (STG) and Maintained in Insect Proof Screenhouses  

We at IHT, Mandira, Assam have established state of the art modern citrus nursery production system under insect proof screenhouses for Khasi mandarin, Sweet Orange with most advanced disease indexing technology so that certifiable pathogen free grafted plants and budwood free from CTV and citrus greening disease (HBL) is delivered to the citrus growers. We have established scion bank of elite pedigree Citrus plants through selection and STG derived plants for disease free foundation block of Khasi mandarin and Sweet orange.

The plants being in high demand need to be booked well in advance for the time supply.

The major reason for low yield and decline in citrus in north eastern states compared to other states is attributed to use of non-descript planting materials having questionable yield potential, longevity and tolerance to various pest and diseases. Notably CTV and Greening disease to be the most critical biotic factor responsible for decline in citrus orchards in North Eastern region.

Almost all the Citrus orchards of NER, specifically the Khasi mandarin, have already gone to the clutches of these two dreaded diseases. Under the present circumstances, it is necessary to have large scale availability of disease free quality planting material in Citrus.

Mass Production of Disease-free, Tissue Cultured Quality Plants of Market Preferred Malbhog Banana

IHT has successfully developed quality planting material of market preferred Malbhog banana by micro propagation. The plants have been validated in farmers’ fields and are now available for sale.

To ensure that the tissue culture raised ex-agar plants is free from Banana streak virus (BSV), Banana bunchy top virus (BBTV), Banana bract mosaic virus (BBrMV) and Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV), we get the plants indexed from DBT Accredited Testing Laboratory for TC raised plants.
