Visit of Farmers and Farmer Organization

IHT organises farmers field days for showcasing the modern technologies in horticultural crop productions. The farmers are provided interactive lectures and practical exposition of the technologies useful to them.

In one of the field days in 2014, Secretary (Department of Agriculture Research and Education) and Director General, Indian Council of Agriculture Research, New Delhi Dr. S. Ayyappan mentioned that IHT to be the first institute in India with the facility of “Intelligent Greenhouse” The Intelligent Greenhouse is equipped with the mechanism of Integration of abiotic factors like temperature, light, humidity and Co2 in order to provide the ambient climatic conditions to the crops especially crops cultivated by hydroponic technology.

Thousands of farmers from almost all states and UT’s have participated in different training programmes in IHT. Many F.P.O’s also deputed farmers for such trainings.Apart from this various F.P.O’s from different states visit IHT for trainings and exposure visits for knowing about the technological interventions for production of quality horticultural produce. Some of the F.P.O’s depute the progressive farmers for hands on trainings in IHT.
